Cherry Plum restores the qualities of balance, calmness and positive control of the mind
What Does Cherry Plum Do?
Cherry Plum restores the qualities of balance, calmness and positive control of the mind. The negative Cherry Plum state can be a very extreme and uncomfortable one in which the personality experiences powerful and irrational fears.
Those in need of this remedy often feel that they are loosing control of their mind, going insane, or perhaps having a breakdown. They can be snappy, on edge, want to scream or fear that they could be uncharacteristically violent, either to themselves or others.
In a very extreme state they may have wide staring eyes and be unable to stop themselves from saying or doing things that are completely out of their normal character. Many women experience variations of these irrational feelings related to their monthly cycle. In all these situations Cherry Plum brings calmness, rationality and peace.
Dr Bach’s description of Cherry Plum
"Fear of the mind being over-strained, of reason giving way, of doing fearful and dreaded things, not wished and known wrong, yet there comes the thought and impulse to do them."

Dr. Bach’s Seven Main Groups
Dr. Bach divided his 38 Bach Flower Remedies into seven different personality groups; each group representing the differing ways a particular thought pattern or emotion could be seen and experienced in the personality.
Cherry Plum is in Dr Bach’s – Fear Group
Fear is possibly the most common human emotion and affects most of us in some way or another. The five remedies in this group represent the different ways that fear can influence our behaviour. The Fear group remedies are: Aspen, Cherry Plum, Mimulus, Red Chestnut, Rock Rose
The Cherry Plum Flower
The Latin Name for Cherry Plum is: Prunus Cerasifera
Cherry Plum is a broadleaf deciduous tree that has naturalised in the UK. and is one of the first of the Prunus species to flower, with its single flowers appearing in early spring. It is the ancestor of the domestic plum and it’s flowers develop into red or yellow cherry like plums.
Making the Cherry Plum Remedy
Cherry Plum was the first of the second nineteen remedies that Dr. Bach discovered. He first made it in March 1935 around Sotwell in Oxfordshire when he was suffering greatly from the symptons that would indicate the need for the remedy. Indeed, so intense were the symptoms that he felt desparate and that life was no longer possible without loss of reason.
He wandered the local fields and lanes early one morning looking for a remedy to help until he came across a hedge white with Cherry Plum blossoms. He felt very drawn to make a remedy from the flowers, but it was early in the year and he felt that the sun was not strong enough to use the sun method and so he prepared it using a new method, the boiling method of potentisation. All of the second nineteen Bach remedies were prepared by the boiling method with the exception of the White Chestnut which is a sun method remedy.
Cherry Plum is one of the remedies in the Revival Remedy combination, along with Clematis, Impatiens, Rock Rose & Star of Bethlehem. This combination of Bach remedies was originally formulated by Dr Bach himself for use in situations requiring ‘emergency rescue’. It acts as a very swift emotional stabiliser in situations of great fear, panic, trauma, or severe stress such as serious accidents or unexpected bereavement. It is also very useful in situations of lesser trauma such as exams, driving tests, visits to the dentist, etc. Revival Remedy
How To Use Cherry Plum
Our Bach Flower Remedies are stock level Essences which can be diluted into a treatment bottle as suggested by Dr Bach or used directly from stock if preferred. A treatment bottle can contain one single essence or a combination of up to eight different essences.
Making a Treatment Combination
Making a Bach Flower Remedy combination is simple and easy: put 2 drops from each of the Remedies you require (4 drops of Revival Remedy) into a clean glass dropper bottle containing up to 30ml of spring water (adding a teaspoon full of brandy or cider vinegar as a preservative if you wish). Alternatively you can put 4 drops of each remedy required (8 drops of Revival Remedy) into a glass of water. You can combine up to 8 of the Bach Remedies.
How to Use Your Combination
Using Your Combination: For a normal adult dosage take 4 drops on the tongue (or a sip from your glass of water) 8 x a day, or every 30 – 60 minutes for acute states.
