Winter & Snow in South Norfolk – the Story of Our Week
For perhaps the first time ever, we have had to have a ‘snow day’ or two here at Crystal Herbs!
Although Tueday was snowy and cold, most of us managed to get in through the snow and we did a normal full day of orders.
However, there was a lot of snow throughout the night on Tuesday, which is very rare thing here in East Anglia, and only two of us managed to make it through on Wednesday. Even then it was only for a few hours, after which we literally had to dig the car out of the car park and then again out of the driveway, before retreating home in the heavy snow. As it turned out Thursday was even worse and the roads into Crystal Herbs were impassable by anything other than a tractor or a snow plough.
This was the main Norwich to Ipswich road on Friday morning. There were stationary queues as the wonderful local farmers did their bit clearing the snowdrifts off the road.
So to Friday… and although its no longer snowing, there is a lot of wind and its blowing large snow drifts across the roads. A number of us set off to try and get in this morning, but even some of the main roads were blocked and the two miles of side roads up to Crystal Herbs, where there will have been no gritting or snow ploughs, were again impassable. One of the not so wonderful things about being in the depths of the Norfolk countryside!
Dispatchiung Your Orders
So as a result we are a little behind with all of your orders at the moment, for which we very much apologise! However, the good news is that the weather forecast looks a lot better over the weekend and it would seem highly likely that the snow should have mainly melted by Sunday. So on Monday we will all be there getting your orders completed and dispatched for you.
We can only apologise for the delay in sending out your orders and thank you for your patience!
Below you can see some of the pictures from around Crystal Herbs, taken on Tuesday and Wednesday when we could actually get there!
