The intellect and reason are prized as the best way to find answers, so from a young age we learn to rely on sources outside ourselves to make our decisions and find our way in the world.<\/p>\r\n

In addition, our early care givers and educators have their own beliefs, values and ideas about what is best for us and how we must behave to fit into society. We learn what they expect from us in order to be loved, so we get in the habit of disregarding our own natural instincts in order to fit in with other people’s expectations. <\/p>\r\n

By the time we reach adulthood, many of us feel unable to trust our intuition because it’s become a lifelong habit to listen to external voices as a source of authority instead of our own internal authority. This can leave us feeling unsure about our own inner truth, doubting ourselves<\/a>, asking other people for advice, and feeling uncertain about our path and choices.<\/p>\r\n
